In 1990, the average annual tuition for public college in the U.S. was
$3,800. By 2020, the cost tripled to $10,560. Thirty years ago, less than
half of students took on loans, and total student debt was $24 billion.
Today, 54% take on loans, and total debt is a staggering $1.6 trillion.

We need an urgent course correction.

Pursuing your dreams shouldn’t put you in crushing debt. We shouldn’t be
gatekeeping the basic right to education. In one of the world’s wealthiest
countries. In order to help the next generation thrive in our global
economy, we must abolish the financial burdens that stand in the way of
their prosperity.

That’s why I’m proud to be a supporter of Rep. Pramila Jayapal’s College
for All Act. This bold bill will revitalize our education system by
opening the door to stress-free opportunities for current and future
students, regardless of their financial status.

The College for All Act will benefit our nation by making two- and
four-year public colleges and universities tuition-free. Furthermore, the
bill will erase those trillion-plus dollars in student debt through a tax
on Wall Street, providing relief to millions of people and setting them on

No American should shoulder debt to receive an education. Let’s call on
Congress to pass the College for All Act and change the rigged system once
and for all.
