John,

Last night was our August mid-month fundraising deadline. Unfortunately, we came up short.

I'm not going to tell you missing our goal spells disaster for our campaign. Because it doesn't.

But every time we come up short, it stretches our resources thin. And it means we have even less time to make up for lost ground before November.

I'm going up against an opponent who can rely on Washington outsiders to bankroll his campaign. Our campaign doesn't have that luxury. Instead, I'm counting on you — and this team — to keep us on track now until Election Day.

If we're going to win, we have to hit every single goal we set. Period. So, here's what we need to do: I've asked my team to extend our deadline to Thursday at midnight.

We can't afford to come up short again — can I count on you to pitch in $5 to help us close our fundraising gap? >> [link removed]

I believe in this grassroots team. I hope I can count on your support to catch up so we can keep spreading our message to Kansans.

Thank you,

Laura
