John, our country has the ability to support and nourish every child. But the Republican Party has turned access to healthy food into a controversial talking point. So right now, as struggling families prepare to send kids back to school, a life-changing universal, federally funded National School Lunch Program (NSLP) is expiring.

Republicans fought against renewing the policy because COVID-19 related school closures had ended. But they’ve conveniently ignored the ongoing financial impact that families are still facing. Millions of children suffered from food insecurity before the pandemic, relying solely on meals from school, and now, many are at risk of falling through the large gaps in our social safety net.

The answer to this problem should be easy, John: Do what’s best for children and families. But Republicans have proven that they can’t be trusted with that decision. So we MUST replace them – as many as we can – with Emerge women. 

We trust them to hear the needs of children and families and respond with decisiveness and compassion. Former teachers and community members are stepping up and running for school boards and state legislatures so the situation can be corrected. That’s why as the new school year begins, we’ve set a mid-month goal to raise $15,000 to help Emerge women run, win, and help save our schools. But we can’t hit this goal without your help. And we’re counting on you to be one of them.

So please, John: Will you step up now – before our mid-month deadline – and donate $5 to help hit our crucial goal and elect Emerge women up and down the ballot in every state?
