Sign up to Power the Polls today >> Hey Indivisibles,
Poll workers are the backbone of the election system, and we wouldn’t have safe and smooth elections without them. Unfortunately, during the 2020 cycle, we saw a huge reduction in workers at the poll, and that trend is continuing on during the midterms.
Poll workers help make sure our democracy is safe, and our elections are fair.
Poll workers support early voting locations, ensure technology functions, and help minimize long lines and delays at polling places on Election Day. Because the number of poll workers at a polling place impacts whether a polling place opens on Election Day, poll worker shortages can lead to long lines and voter disenfranchisement, especially in communities of color and low income communities.
We here at Indivisible are proud to partner with Power the Polls, a first-of-its-kind nonpartisan initiative to recruit poll workers to ensure a safe, fair, efficient election for all voters. Primaries are already underway, and we are already seeing an urgent need for poll workers to ensure our elections run smoothly. That’s why our ask of you today isn’t to make a call, or attend an event.
Will you help us address our nation’s critical poll worker shortage? You can help increase civic engagement in your community and protect the process of our democracy by signing up as a poll worker -- and potentially get paid to do it. Sign up to Power the Polls today!
Once you’ve signed up, depending on your jurisdiction, you will either be contacted by Power the Polls, a partner organization, or your local election administrators regarding your application.
This may sound like a big ask from us, but we wouldn’t ask if it wasn’t something urgent. Signing up to be a poll worker may sound slightly complicated, but don’t worry: the Power the Polls team will help you along the way. Once you sign up, Power the Polls will provide you with more information about the application process and what to expect when you become a poll worker.
We're proud to partner with Power the Polls and mobilize our members in support of our democracy this year. As always, there is no one else we would rather be in this fight with than you.
In solidarity, Indivisible Team
