Dear Friends,
With your relentless advocacy for a clearer, greener future, Democrats delivered an historic, life-changing health, jobs and climate law that delivers lower health costs and aggressive climate action — now.
With the Inflation Reduction Act, Democrats have achieved extraordinary progress on several of our most urgent priorities. Thanks to you, our VIPs — our volunteers in politics and policy — we are shifting the leverage to the people from the entrenched special interests like Pharma, the fossil fuel lobby, and big corporations who have blocked progress. Every single Democrat — House and Senate — said YES but every single Republican in Congress voted with Big Pharma, Big Oil, and Big Money over lower prescription drugs, cheaper cleaner energy, and making corporations pay their fair share.
The Inflation Reduction Act will address rising costs of living by helping people pay for gas and prescription drugs.
It will strengthen the Affordable Care Act to make health insurance even more accessible — extending subsidies to over 13 million Americans and fixing the “Family Glitch” that affected 5 million more people. It will lower the cost of prescription drugs and cap out-of-pocket Medicare costs to $35 a month for insulin and $2,000 per year for all medications.
It will bring down inflation by reducing the deficit by $300 billion and raise critical revenue by making the wealthiest corporations finally pay their fair share of taxes.
And it's the biggest investment ever in clean and alternative energy — delivering climate action NOW with tax credits and policies that will drive greenhouse-gas pollution out of the economy and out of our communities. Nearly $400 billion in tax credits will apply to any form of zero-carbon power production, subsidizing the cost of new zero-emissions power plants. To reduce emissions and energy prices, the Inflation Reduction Act will create the jobs that will make that possible: underwriting new factories, encouraging clean-energy manufacturing, and investing in geothermal, hydrogen, and carbon-removal for cleaner, cheaper energy.
It’s a lot to be proud of — and it happened because of YOU. Let’s talk about it.
Join me TOMORROW, Wednesday August 17th, with my very special guest, Congresswoman Kathy Castor, FL-14, Chair of the House Select Committee on the Climate Crisis and a member of the House Energy and Commerce Committee.

Since 2007, Chair Castor has represented Florida’s Tampa Bay area in Congress. Her top priority has been to help create good-paying jobs, economic vitality, and climate justice for her constituents. She has the expertise and skills to bring people together on solutions to our climate crisis — from the scientists to environmental advocates to labor unions to leaders in clean energy and agriculture.
