Healthcare is a human right.
The COVID pandemic taught us a lot. Our healthcare system is vulnerable and patients, now more than ever, need access to quality health care without being burdened by medical bills. No one should have to choose between necessary medication, rent, or putting food on the table. Health care is a human right and we need to craft legislation that enshrines our health and wellness as a priority in this country, so we all can thrive.
That’s why Catherine supports universal health care access (Medicare for All), medical professionals, and patient protections by expanding the “Patient’s Bill of Rights” to be more inclusive of all no matter their zip code. Catherine is an ardent supporter of the Affordable Care Act, and she knows there’s an opportunity to do even more by bringing patients and doctors to the table to talk about how this vital service can better serve the health and wellness of all Americans.
We also need to destigmatize mental health. From our children struggling in the classroom, to preparing them to take on life’s greatest challenges, mental health needs to be front and center when we talk about fixing our healthcare system. And as adults, we need to continue that care with affordable access to professionals who can help give us the tools to overcome those challenges.
That’s why Catherine supported a ban on conversion therapy for minors, and just this year supported a new program through our Public Safety Department that focuses on mental health specialists as part of the 911 team.
Access to health care has been a generational struggle for Americans. Catherine has taken actionable steps to ensure affordable and equitable access to healthcare is available to NY-16 residents as a County Legislator. And now she wants to take that same determination to Congress.
Catherine is the only candidate in this race with the experience to work within her own party and across the aisle to deliver results for us.
And don’t forget to MAKE A PLAN TO VOTE! Early Voting has already begun!
