Dear NRDC Action Fund Activist,

As a digital organizer, I connect people to opportunities to make a
difference — and this is a big one.

Today is National Poll Worker Recruitment Day. Poll workers are
non-partisan, and they help ensure that anyone who chooses to vote in
person can do so as easily and safely as possible. They are also essential
to making sure every vote is counted.

Yet already, during this year's primary elections, polling places in some
states were forced to close due to a lack of poll workers. It's up to us
to help make sure every polling location can stay open this November, and
everyone has a chance to cast their ballot.

you help ensure safe, fair, and efficient elections for all by signing up
to be a poll worker on Election Day?

Without more poll workers, communities around the country will be forced
to drastically cut the number of polling sites, and voters could have to
travel long distances or stand for hours in incredibly long lines —
especially voters in communities of color, who already face barriers
against exercising their right to vote.

That's why the NRDC Action Fund has partnered with Power the Polls to help
recruit a new generation of poll workers who can ensure safe and fair
access to the ballot box in 2022 and beyond.

When you sign up to become a poll worker, you will:

* Receive training to ensure you have all the necessary information and
skills you need prior to Election Day
* Help voters in your community make sure their voices are heard
* Participate in an essential, non-partisan activity central to the
functioning of our democracy

Poll workers do a little of everything — arranging chairs, directing
traffic, signing in voters, and making sure everyone has a seamless voting
experience. Whatever your role, poll workers are an essential part of
ensuring fair and accessible elections.
