1) Spain To Regulate Thermostats – The Madness Is Coming Here Next
We’ve warned about this kind of Stalinist climate change policy for years, and, well, it’s here. Reason Magazine’s headline says it all:
“Amid its hottest summer in recent memory, Spain has banned air conditioning set below 80 degrees Fahrenheit in public spaces—including offices, transportation hubs, shops, bars, and restaurants. Similar mandates are trickling out across Europe as part of a voluntary agreement between countries in the European Union (E.U.)…”
We can guarantee that America’s mad war against energy (as highlighted last week by the $300 billion for green energy in the Schumer-Manchin bill) will accelerate this energy rationing here.
The irony of this is that by far the best way to reduce death from heat waves is by making sure citizens have access to AC.
P.S. Don’t forget, as we spotlighted a few weeks ago in the Hotline, the left also hates refrigerators.
2) Democrats Already Are Planning More Tax Hikes If They Keep The House
Well that didn’t take long. Only a day after the Democratic House passed their half-trillion tax increase, Rep. Richard Neal of Massachusetts, the chairman of the tax-writing Ways & Means Committee spilled the beans. He told Bloomberg News he would seek to raise both corporate and individual income tax rates should Democrats keep the House.
Kudos to Mr. Neal for his honesty in letting voters know what they are getting if Nancy Pelosi and the Democrats retain their majority and their extend reign of tax ‘n spend terror.
We warned back in 2020 when the United Mine Workers of America union endorsed Joe Biden for president, they were throwing thousands of their own dues-paying members out of jobs. The doofus who engineered that strategy was the union president, Cecil Roberts.
Roberts is such a traitor to his own union members that he SUPPORTED the Manchin-Schumer bill – which is designed to kill coal. Period.
But Roberts dismisses these criticisms of the bill as "absolute bull." He wrote in a public statement defending the bill:
"Those who are attacking this legislation ... overlook some pretty obvious benefits of this bill to West Virginia coal miners, like the billions in tax credits for the application of Carbon Capture and Storage technology, which would allow coal-fired power plants to extend their lives for decades. This is one of the first times Congress can actually take steps to support the coal industry, which few ever expected."
And finally: “I cannot understand how any politician who actually cares about working West Virginians and the quality of their lives can trash this bill."
Is Roberts dumb as a stone, or simply bought off by the leftist interest groups?
Probably, both.
4) Chart Of The Day: The Debt Curve From Hell
Our friend Jim Carter, an economist at America First Policy Institute just posted this chart with the hot-off-the-press new Congressional Budget Office numbers for the national debt. They are frightening. Good thing we have Biden adding some $4 trillion to this number in 18 months. What an economic savior!
Our friends Adam Brandon and David Sokol have teamed up to pen a wonderful new book “America in Perspective: Defending the American Dream for the Next Generation.”
As CTUP’s Steve Moore wrote for Daily Caller:
"My takeaway from the book is we must re-embrace the constitutional principles that are the foundation of our greatness. Yes, they are under assault. The left wants to pack the Supreme Court, change election laws to encourage cheating, end the filibuster and federalize everything to make the states the minions of Washington.
“America in Perspective” is an imperative reminder of why we can’t and won’t allow that to happen. This needs to be in every classroom, library, and boardroom in America.”
