Insight and clean energy news from Citizens for Responsible Energy Solutions

Dear Friends and Colleagues,

Congressional recess is finally here, and my team and I are using this time to gear up and prepare for a very busy Fall—especially the sixth annual National Clean Energy Week 2022 (NCEW22), September 26-30.

NCEW22 is a bipartisan opportunity to celebrate American clean energy innovation. As chair of NCEW, one of my favorite aspects of this week-long celebration has always been hearing from the experts during the NCEW Policy Makers Symposium, which will be held this year from September 27-29.

Thanks to the generosity of our NCEW22 sponsors, I am excited to announce that this year’s Symposium is FREE – no cost – for anyone and everyone!  And, the Symposium will be held virtually again this year so that more supporters from across the country and around the globe can participate in critical discussions about clean energy. Just don’t forget to REGISTER!

If you’re not familiar with NCEW, it was organized in 2017 as a celebration of the American clean energy sector. The goal of the week-long event is to recognize and discuss policy ideas that harness American innovation to reduce emissions. NCEW has been bipartisan from the start, with Republican and Democratic policy makers participating alongside investors, industry executives, and nonprofits—totaling more than 150 organizations. This cross-section of talent from the public and private sectors builds the necessary bridges between policy, finance, and innovation to make clean energy strides at home and abroad.

I hope you can participate in #NCEW22, September 26-30, as we continue to encourage bipartisan policies that advance clean energy. Let’s not forget: reducing emissions is a red, white, and blue issue!

what CRES is saying banner

“With skyrocketing gas prices at the pump and the threat of blackouts due to our nation’s crumbling grid, it is critical that we elect leaders committed to all-the-above policies that address climate change while reducing consumer costs," Heather Reams, president of CRES, said in a statement congratulating CRES-endorsed candidates who had won their primaries as of late July.

Washington Examiner, Daily on Energy

“For years CRES has called upon lawmakers to inject some common sense into the National Environmental Policy Act and streamline federal environmental review processes. However, the Biden White House has taken us in the wrong direction. CRES applauds Senator Dan Sullivan (R-AK) and his 49 Senate Republican colleagues for introducing a resolution to nullify President Biden’s flawed policies on permitting and construction.

"America cannot reduce emissions quickly if we are stymied by old and crumbling infrastructure. To build a clean energy future in America, and to protect our vulnerable communities from a changing climate, we need a permitting process that evaluates projects on the merits while discouraging anti-development groups from using environmental review simply to delay or block critical infrastructure construction.”

CRES President Heather Reams, in a statement supporting Sen. Dan Sullivan’s resolution to nullify the Biden Administration’s NEPA Regulation Revisions.

Reams Visits with The Green Light Podcast— CRES President Heather Reams recently appeared on an episode of clean energy and technology firm Dylan Green’s podcast, The Green Light, titled, “Why are conservatives increasingly supporting clean energy,” which you can listen to here. Reams discussed how she became a clean energy advocate, how she helped create NCEW, as well as her go-to messages about clean energy.

CRES On the Road — The CRES team visited San Juan, Puerto Rico in early August as part of a staff retreat to learn about transmission and power challenges facing the island, as well as what clean energy companies such as LUMA and Quanta Services are doing to address these issues. Hard hit by years of neglect and natural disasters, LUMA is working with Quanta Services to create the next generation electrical system that works for all Puerto Ricans. LUMA’s workforce training program provides good paying jobs for communities throughout the island, and their commitment to establishing infrastructure for EV development is the forward-thinking Puerto Rico needs. We thank LUMA and Quanta Services for meeting with us to discuss their challenges and opportunities.
