As the global malnutrition crisis deepens, UNICEF is stepping up its efforts to reach every child with the nutrition support they need — meaning more children are receiving life-changing care and recovering from malnutrition every day.
Children like 2-year-old Ishak in rural Syria, for whom malnutrition meant slowed development and limited energy to play with his family. With skyrocketing food prices, ongoing conflict and a severe lack of health care and nutrition services, Ishak's mother, Abir, didn't know where or who to turn to as her son’s health declined.
When she heard about a UNICEF-supported mobile medical team, Abir rushed Ishak for a checkup. The team diagnosed him with moderate acute malnutrition. Read more about Ishak’s story >> |
Since 2021, UNICEF has reached nearly 85,000 children with screening for acute malnutrition and more than 290,000 children and women with medical checkups and treatment in Syria. In the face of growing global crises, increased costs of goods and heightened food insecurity, UNICEF’s nutrition services are as vital as ever.
