Hi there,

Mainers everywhere are facing tough decisions about rising costs. Congress can’t lower prices alone, but it can help. That’s why I supported the Inflation Reduction Act, fiscally responsible legislation that will be good for Maine families and the country.

This common-sense legislation has four key priorities:

1. Devoting nearly $300 billion to reducing the national debt, helping put our country back on a fiscally responsible path.
2. Lowering the cost of prescription drugs and making health care more affordable.
3. Investing in an all-of-the-above energy strategy to significantly increase oil, gas, and renewable energy production to lower energy costs for Mainers.
4. Cracking down on the tax avoidance of billion-dollar multinational corporations.

This is an important first step in fighting inflation. For starters, this bill will help ensure that seniors can afford their health care needs and provide households up to $14,000 in rebates for making energy-efficient upgrades to their homes. That is real money in the pockets of the people I represent.

That’s why I voted yes. My opponent would have voted no.

There is a clear choice in November to continue on this progress, or to go back to letting mega corporations exploit loopholes while working class people and seniors foot the bill. But right now, all signs point to ME-02 being the tipping point for which party controls Congress after 2022.
