Democrat,

This week a tragedy came to our doorstep, with the devastating shooting in Jersey City shaking us all to the core. At the New Jersey Democratic State Committee, we place the highest possible value on the diversity that makes our state so unique, and we stand with the families who lost their loved ones in this heinous attack. Our Muslim and Jewish caucuses issued this statement on the attacks, and I echo their message of bringing all people together.

This week I was excited to attend the Winter Meeting of the Association of State Democratic committees in Austin, alongside Vice Chair Peg Schaffer. The group is comprised of Chairs, Vice Chairs, and Executive Directors from all 50 states and territories. As a member of the Executive Committee of this group, I have closely worked with its Chair, Ken Martin of Minnesota, to ensure state parties have all the resources they need to win elections. For New Jersey, this means direct financial support through the State Party Partnership program and the State Party Innovation Fund, both of which have helped our team build our party’s capabilities to help elect Democrats up and down the ballot.

Governor Phil Murphy officially took the reigns as Chairman of the Democratic Governors Association recently, and this week he announced a new initiative to ensure voting rights across the country. The DGA is partnering with Stacey Abrams, former candidate for governor of Georgia and one of the most inspiring leaders in our party, to launch Every State, Every Vote, a new comprehensive initiative to bring together state efforts around voter protection, voting access, redistricting, and the 2020 census.

In a sign of growing support after a highly successful four-day swing through the state of Iowa on his “Lead with Love” tour, Cory has locked in 23 new key endorsements that will help propel his campaign to victory on caucus night. Cory 2020 also announced another new digital persuasion ad titled “Our Common Cause” to begin running as the next wave of a six-figure advertising effort. Cory will return to New Hampshire this Friday on the heels of the launch of Young Leaders for Cory, a key group of young Granite Staters supporting Cory for president. Thank you,

Chairman John Currie
