Why do Black voters and the modern day Democratic Party have such a fragile relationship? In the forthcoming Black Skinhead: Reflections on Blackness and Our Political Future [[link removed]] , Brandi Collins-Dexter examines the political diversity of Black America and how Black culture and nationalism have shifted, challenging the assumption that Black people will always align with the Democratic Party. In her debut book, reviewers [[link removed]] praise Collins-Dexter as she “narrates a powerful story about a Black America that had become disillusioned with the failed promises of their country.”
On Tuesday, August 16 at 8pm ET/5pm PT , please join the American Economic Liberties Project as we talk with Brandi Collins-Dexter [[link removed]] , Associate Research Director at The Technology and Social Change Project at Harvard University's Shorenstein Center and member of Economic Liberties’ Board of Directors, for the next installment of Economic Liberties’ “Thinking Big” series. We’ll discuss issues of political identity, power, and economy through the lens of Black voters and hear her perspective on how we can repair a fracturing relationship to create an inclusive, prosperous collective future.
