John,
When I voted to pass the Inflation Reduction Act last week, I had a few things on my mind.
I thought about how we negotiated for more than a year to pass this major bill containing core pieces of President Biden’s Build Back Better agenda. Our dogged progressive energy helped win historic investments to fight climate change, and important health care and tax reforms.
I thought about how this is a big win for the people, millions will see their energy, health care premium, and prescription drug costs go down. I also thought about how much work we have left to do to pass more of our progressive priorities. Affordable child care, Medicare and Medicaid expansion, measures to reduce poverty, major housing reforms — these are things we must keep fighting for. Will you add your name to continue on our fight for transformative legislation?
And that’s not all — President Biden can cancel student loan debt right now, as tens of millions of borrowers wait to see if loan repayments will begin on September 1. Right now, President Biden could take a whole slate of actions that expand worker power and overtime pay, reform the criminal justice system, and protect immigrants.
As we build our progressive power in Congress, we will continue building support for Medicare for All and a Green New Deal, too. We need bold, transformative change in this country, and we will win it, John.
There is so much left to fight for while we celebrate the milestone passage of the Inflation Reduction Act. So, will you sign on and commit to continuing the fight for our progressive priorities like Medicare for All, student loan debt cancellation, affordable child care, worker power, and so much more? Add your name to the commitment now.
President Biden will sign the Inflation Reduction Act into law soon, and I will be there to applaud our hard work and our wins for the people. Then we must continue on this fight.
In solidarity,
Pramila
