At any given time, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement detains tens of thousands of people in the nearly two hundred immigration detention centers across the United States. In recent years, advocates have repeatedly voiced concerns about the treatment of individuals who are detained in ICE facilities, citing inadequate medical care, violations of due process, racial discrimination, excessive use of force, and other types of abuse.
Join the American Immigration Council and our Immigration Justice Campaign staff for a webinar on Wednesday, August 17 at 1 p.m. ET where people who are new to the topic of immigration detention can learn about the U.S. detention system and show how you can help end it, from volunteering to grassroots activism.
The discussion will cover:
- How immigration detention works.
- Some of the major problems with immigration detention.
- Discussions around alternatives to detention.
- How you can get involved in volunteering and advocacy with the Immigration Justice Campaign.
We hope you'll join us for this discussion.
