The precious home of otters and dolphins could soon be drilled into to make way for a massive gas storage facility.
Dear John
We’re heading to court again. This time to take on the decision to give the go ahead to plans for a massive gas storage facility under Larne Lough.
The environment department hasn’t properly assessed the impact of these plans. On the coastline’s local wildlife. On precious marine life. Or the climate.
We think that makes the decision to approve the project unlawful. We want it stopped. So alongside local group No Gas Caverns we're taking the Northern Ireland government to court.
Thanks to the generosity of people like you, our brilliant legal team has already achieved some monumental victories for the planet. Last month we celebrated an incredible win against the UK government. Over its inadequate plans to tackle the climate emergency.
The Larne Lough case could be our next triumph. But we urgently need your help. So if you can, will you support us with a donation? As I said in my original email below, dolphins, puffins and otters are depending on us.

It's not just marine life that will suffer the catastrophic effects of this climate-wrecking project.
The UK is experiencing record-breaking temperatures this summer. And our governments must switch to investing in renewable energy now, before it's too late. By donating today, you’re helping our incredible legal team fight more fossil fuel projects like Larne Lough.
Thanks so much for all you’ve done so far.
All the best,

Dear John
Northern Ireland’s Larne Lough coastline, home to otters, puffins and dolphins, could soon be drilled into. All to make way for a massive gas storage facility.
And so far Northern Ireland’s Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs (DAERA) has failed to put a stop to the plans. So we’re taking it to court. And your support could make the world of difference to our case.
If the project goes ahead, polluters will turn the coastal haven into a construction site. They plan to drill down into the seabed to make space for 7 huge gas storage caverns.
A polluting solution will be pumped into the sea, forming a vast “dead zone”. Destroying a huge area of habitat, with no chance of survival for the once thriving marine life.
We can’t stand by while precious sea life and creatures living on the cliffs nearby are under threat. With your help lawyers like me can challenge these plans in court. Together we can save Larne Lough from catastrophe.
So if you can, will you support us with a donation?

The Larne Lough project threatens to wipe out local wildlife and wreck our precious coastline. It also completely undermines efforts to confront the climate crisis.
The underwater gas storage caverns will take up to 12 years to be fully operational. How can the government continue to back fossil fuel infrastructure? We should be doing everything we can to phase out our reliance on gas.
And let’s make no mistake. This project won’t lower our energy bills and it won’t bring Northern Ireland the well-paid jobs it needs. In fact, the development will offer only minimal opportunities for the local community.
With your help our team of lawyers can challenge DAERA on lots of issues relating to the scheme. From failing to properly assess its impact to using inadequate environmental information.
Can you support our campaign with a donation?

Thanks to our incredible supporters our legal team has a long history of securing victories for the planet.
This June we challenged the UK government’s flawed climate strategy in court. And last week, we celebrated a huge win when the High Court ordered the government to revise it [1]. The Larne Lough court case could be our next milestone.
We’ve joined forces with local group No Gas Caverns to challenge the proposals. And with your help we can:
* Argue against the Larne Lough project in court – and support local groups campaigning to stop the caverns.
* Protect our precious local wildlife and environment by fighting more fossil fuel projects.
* Continue to challenge governmental decisions that threaten our planet's future.
So if you can, please do support us with a donation.

Thank you so much for all you do.
All the best,
