Source: The U.S. Constitution |
After more than 14 hours of debate, the House Judiciary Committee voted to impeach President Donald Trump this morning. The two articles of impeachment—abuse of power and obstruction of justice—will head to the full House floor for a vote next week.
The facts on impeachment are clear: Any president who behaves as Trump has in abusing the power of the presidency to bribe a foreign power into investigating a political rival threatens the very foundation of U.S. democracy. And according the U.S. Constitution, the only way to hold Trump accountable is for the House of Representatives to impeach him and for the Senate to remove him from office.
It is critical that Americans understand what is happening and what is at stake. This week, CAP Action and Stand Up American launched TrumpandImpeachment.com as a resource to provide information on impeachment facts, key players, and the process itself.

Not only would this legislation produce significant savings for millions of Americans with chronic conditions such as diabetes, but the reinvestment into Medicare would also save seniors hundreds of dollars every year on traditionally uncovered out-of-pocket expenses.

The U.S. Economy Requires Child Care
|
Without working mothers, the normal functioning of state economies across the country would grind to a halt. Yet too many of them face difficulty affording the child care that allows them to remain employed. Any sound economic strategy to ensure a prosperous, strong, and secure America must invest in child care. |

Trump's Alarming Human Rights Agenda
|
The Trump administration's policies on religious liberty, reproductive rights, and issues affecting people of color, immigrants, and indigenous populations have harmed people at home and around the world.
As such, the United States cannot credibly speak against abuses in other nations if its own policies are perpetuating human rights abuses abroad or if it is failing to uphold and protect rights at home. |

Silencing and Poisoning the Public
|
In the coming weeks, the Trump administration is poised to gut the only law that requires the federal government to consider the environmental and public health effects of its actions and gives the public and communities a voice in federal decision-making.
