Friend,

I’m reaching out because you share our commitment to our democracy. We want to let you know that August 16 is National Poll Worker Recruitment Day, and it’s time for all-hands-on-deck.

Now, more than ever, it’s critical that polls are staffed by non-partisan, well-trained, and objective individuals who will administer a safe, secure, and accessible election. Will you sign up to help us address our nation’s critical poll worker shortage?

Ensuring that our polls are adequately staffed with trained volunteers not only guarantees that each voter’s voice is heard this November, but also enhances trust in our electoral process at a time when that confidence is eroding.

We’ve partnered with Power the Polls once again to ensure that polls are well staffed. In 2020, Power the Polls and its partner nonprofits and businesses recruited nearly 700,000 prospective poll workers in under 100 days. That amazing effort was made possible by many voices — including Fair Elections Center, United Way, MTV, Twitter, and the NFL, among dozens of others — amplifying the call to action.

Recruiting and training the volunteers who administer elections at the local level is not only hard work, but it's vital to the continued health of our ongoing experiment in self-governance. Eroding confidence in our election systems has made the task of attracting volunteers even more difficult.

The good news is you can make a difference in your community by signing up as a poll worker—and potentially get paid to do it.
Once you’ve signed up, depending on your jurisdiction, you'll either be contacted by Power the Polls, a partner organization, or your local election administrators regarding your application.

With all of the recent bad news for democracy, it’s easy to feel anxious about the future of our country. But I chose to volunteer as a poll worker, despite the increased politicization, because it allows me to feel a sense of purpose — a tangible defense of our democratic process and an opportunity to serve.

Will you join me?

Thanks for all you do for democracy,
