Dear Neighbors and Friends,

It has been a busy summer, and I hope this finds you all well and safe. This quick newsletter is a simple reminder to exercise one of our great powers: the power to vote.

While not everyone has time to pay attention to the goings-on of local, state, and federal governments, we entrust those who step up to serve to look out for us and our communities. That is why I encourage you to exercise your tremendous power to vote for the candidate you feel best suits your values and priorities.

If you have not already done so, please remember to vote in this unique election tomorrow - Tuesday, August 16. You can find your in-person polling location here. Polls are open from 7:00 AM to 8:00 PM. The Division of Elections' website has a wealth of information, from a list of candidates to ranked-choice voting tutorials: elections.alaska.gov.

This is a two-fold election. On One side of your ballot is the regular primary election ("pick one primary") - choose one candidate for each office. The top four vote-getters will go on to the general election November.

On the other side of your ballot, you will participate in Alaska's first ranked-choice voting system for the Special Election of Alaska's vacant seat in the U.S. House. You may rank up to 4 candidates (including a registered write-in candidate) - or you may choose one person, if you want. Nonetheless, I hope you will join me in voting in this very important election to fill out the remainder of Congressman Young's term through January.

Meanwhile, it continues to be a pleasure to serve you and our neighbors. Please feel free to contact me anytime.

All my best,
Senator Tom Begich
Senate District J
