Just over a week ago, one million Israelis spent the weekend running to bomb shelters as Islamic Jihad fired more than 1,000 rockets at their neighborhoods.
These battles between Israel and terrorists in Gaza have emerged every few years, and those seeking to destroy the Jewish state have continued to develop more advanced weapons. We must always ensure Congress stands with Israel as it protects its citizens from terrorism.
In July, our community helped lead the fight to defeat Donna Edwards, an anti-Israel candidate who was in the House of Representatives during a previous Israel-Gaza conflict. She did not support a resolution – which was backed by the overwhelming majority of Congress – affirming Israel’s right to defend itself.
Together, we helped Glenn Ivey defeat Edwards handily – sending a pro-Israel Democratic candidate to the House in the seat she once held.
