Your weekly Indivisible Newsletter Indivisibles,
Last week, the FBI executed a search warrant on Trump’s property at Mar-a-Lago.
The search occurred after 15 boxes of material were returned to the National Archives in January including material marked as classified. During last week’s search, agents retrieved 11 sets of classified documents including documents labeled top-secret. In the aftermath, we have learned that Trump’s lawyer previously signed a statement claiming that all classified material had been returned to the government.
Clearly, that was a lie.
In the ensuing chaos, Trump has performed his usual amoral backflips in order to justify any actions taken on his part -- he has denied any wrongdoing, accused the FBI of planting evidence, and had his people declare that he declassified any documents that had been taken to Mar-a-Lago.
This all fits within the patterns of action we’ve witnessed from Trump throughout his political life -- lie, bluster, blame others, deflect, and invoke privilege to do whatever you want.
And yet, extremists support him still.
The Washington Post reported that of Republican nominees, “among winning candidates for positions that have a role in the election certification process, 54 of 87 candidates are election deniers.” Regardless of Trump’s clear refusal to follow the laws of the nation, candidates are still flocking to his ideology.
Whether it’s Kari Lake and Blake Masters in Arizona or Doug Mastriano and Scott Perry in Pennsylvania, candidates are still parroting Trump’s big lie in an attempt to galvanize their base. As Trump’s consistent pattern has taught us, the MAGA playbook is not about the truth, it’s about holding power in spite of how damning the truth may be.
This is why we must Give No Ground this November. MAGA Republicans are reminding us that they do not care about honesty or integrity, they care about power. When given the reins, they will use them to strip away as many rights from the American people as possible in order to maintain that power.
We are the last defense against their extremism.
With that, here are your weekly to-dos:
Your 5 weekly to-dos
- Click here to register for a Give No Ground phone bank for Sen. Raphael Warnock on Monday, August 22nd at 7pm ET/4pm PT. We will be celebrating the passage of the Inflation Reduction Act with a phone bank to make sure we have the power to enact other impactful policy moving forward. Warnock won by just over 90,000 votes in his 2020 special election. We cannot afford to lose this seat moving forward.
- Click here to register to Give No Ground. The fight for our country’s future begins today. If we do not hold the House and achieve a real majority in the Senate, our plans to codify basic human rights will falter. To win, we must get the message out. Give No Ground is our home for opportunities to phonebank, textbank, canvass, postcard, and more so that when November comes around, we can say that we gave it our all for democracy. MAGA Republicans are mobilizing, but there are more of us than there are of them. Let’s make sure we show it!
- Click here to call your senator and tell them to pass the Marriage Equality Act. Following the Dobbs decision, same-sex marriage is now on the chopping block for the Republican Supreme Court. Recently, Senate Republicans blocked passage of the Right to Contraception Act reminding us that our rights are not only in jeopardy, but Republicans will actively refuse to enshrine them into law without pressure. We cannot allow the MAGA-led rollback of our rights to continue -- not while our senators have the power to intervene. Voting against the Marriage Equality Act would be wildly unpopular and put these politicians’ careers in jeopardy (which is why we saw some House Republicans vote with Democrats on it). Let’s make sure Republican senators know it too!
- Click here to call your senator and demand they pass the Markey Court Expansion Bill. Even as Democrats work to expand our rights, the threat of them being overturned by the Supreme Court looms large. We must expand the court after Donald Trump and Mitch McConnell conspired to pack it for generations to come. The only way to re-legitimize the court is to expand it. Contact your senator and, when you’re done, click here to contact your representative and tell them to pass Rep. Mondaire Jones' House version of the bill.
- Do you live in a rural area? Click here to join our National Rural Program. We have special election resources and calls specifically for our rural Indivisibles where you can learn more about strategies and issues specific to Indivisibles living in rural areas. If you want an idea of what that looks like, click here to check out our agenda and notes from previous meetings.

National Events
Click here to register for the Deep Canvassing Phonebank to Conflicted Pro-Choice Voters (Central/East) tomorrow, Tuesday, August 16th from 5pm-8pm ET/ 2pm-5pm PT. Deep canvassing is a proven method for persuading and moving voters to action even across ideological differences. In these phonebanks, we’re calling voters who are likely pro-choice but don’t always vote for Democrats, having open conversations about their stake in abortion access, and inviting them to act on their beliefs by voting for progressive candidates -- and we’ve been moving around 10% of voters we talk to, a massive electorate shift especially in close races! Please note this is a 3hr event: you’ll receive a 1hr training on deep canvassing fundamentals, followed by a 2hr phonebank + debrief for the Give No Ground candidate of your choice in IL, GA, PA, or WI.
Click here to register for the Deep Canvassing Phonebank to Conflicted Pro-Choice Voters (West) on Thursday, August 25th from 8pm-11pm ET/5pm-8pm PT. Register for the same deep canvassing conversations as on the 16th, this time with a focus on our West coast Give No Ground targets in AZ and OR.
Click here to register for Countdown to the Vote -- Truth Summit: Block Election Disinformation with the Indivisible Truth Brigade with keynote speaker Dan Pfeiffer on Wednesday, September 14th at 6:30 ET/3:30 PT. Disinformation poisons minds and prevents our society from moving forward to protect the people and the planet. Lies are spread to obtain unearned power -- it's as simple as that. Lies around voting and elections provide the path to that unearned power. Join us September 14th to learn which states, people, and campaigns are most vulnerable, and how we can and must disrupt voting-related disinformation. Leave this event inspired, clear-headed and focused on taking meaningful action. We’ll be joined by Dan Pfieffer, co-host of Pod Save America and author of Battling the Big Lie: How Fox, Facebook and the MAGA Media are Destroying America.

Even as we watch the FBI execute a search warrant on Trump’s property, his followers stay committed to him and the big lie. We can not allow this sort of blind loyalty to gain the footholds of power again. It is on each and every one of us to protect the basic rights and liberties of Americans from extremism. We have work to do.
