Friend,
Friday was a historic day. When the House passed the Inflation Reduction Act, LCV was at the Capitol to witness the bill's passage, and LCV President Gene Karpinski recorded a message for you while there:
As Gene said, this is monumental — and we have you, and one million LCV members like you, to thank for it. Your support allowed LCV and our state affiliates to run our biggest advocacy campaign ever and help push a ground-breaking climate bill across the finish line.
After years of intense organizing and relentless advocacy by LCV and our movement, this bill became a reality, and it would not have been possible without your support. Thank you!

While this legislation is critical to building a clean energy future that is safer, healthier, and more just for all, it also includes potentially harmful provisions that could continue to perpetuate our nation’s dependence on fossil fuels and subject frontline communities, especially communities in Alaska and on the Gulf of Mexico near oil and gas infrastructure, to further pollution and harm.
These provisions are inconsistent with our climate and justice goals, and so, in the months and years ahead, we will fight to block their implementation and minimize their impact. AND, we will continue to fight for equitable climate action on many fronts, including by pushing for bold executive action and continued progress in states and Congress.
This bill is a huge leap forward, and there is much more still to do. But, thanks to you, we’re ready and better positioned than ever to keep fighting for continued environmental progress and a healthier, safer, more just future for all.
Sincerely,
Tiernan Sittenfeld
