# [#]JOHN,
It was another great weekend on the campaign trail traveling across the First District and it is always fun to share some highlights with you!
On Saturday, it was the Queen Anne’s County Fair — serving up summertime fun and community spirit for the past 80 years. Where else can you ride a giant wood-carved motorcycle, practice target shooting with the 4-H club, or pet llamas? I was asked by the QAC Democratic booth to select the winner of their raffle drawing for a bushel of crabs. Lots of folks at the fair were expressing hope for new leadership in our district. It’s coming soon!

On Sunday, we celebrated the region’s time-honored traditions at Watermen’s Appreciation Day at the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum in St. Michaels. The “Watermen’s Rodeo” boat docking contest is a unique test of skill — and how exciting for a junior waterwoman in training, 8-year old Peyton Reiss, to compete with the greatest cheers from the crowd. As always, the crabs were steaming hot, the beer and lemonade was icy cold and the day could not have been more perfect. Watermen are stewards of the Bay, and my Agri-Climate and EconomyFirst plans center on those who work the water and land with strategies to invest in and protect our precious natural resources. We must ensure that our commercial fishing and aquaculture industries can grow and thrive for generations to come.
