August 15, 2022

Dear John,

Ten years ago, we entered a new era in our mission to advance faith, family, and freedom. On a normal, hot August day the lives of our Family Research Council team were forever changed when an LGBT activist entered our headquarters with the intention and the means to kill everyone in the FRC building.

What could have been an unspeakable tragedy, was averted thanks to the Lord's protection and the heroic, quick actions of FRC's building manager, Leo Johnson. As our own Jared Bridges shared in The Washington Stand this morning: "thanks to one man, Leo Johnson, 'the shooting' happened only to one person: Leo himself."

August 15, 2012 is an important day to FRC, and since you are important partners to us, we wanted to share this story with you as we stop to express our gratitude to the Lord for watching over our team and especially Leo.

We also thank the Lord for His faithfulness enabling us to continue standing for biblical truth here in our nation's capital. The morning following the shooting, every team member showed up to work, because we know that our mission to advance biblical values in culture and public policy is not a job, but a calling from the Lord.

We will never give in to fear or be silenced. Through the prayers and support of partners like you, we have stood for faith, family, and freedom for almost 40 years, and we will keep standing for generations to come.

Thank you for standing with us, no matter what.

Standing (Eph. 6:13),

Tony Perkins
