John, it's Brad Lander.
I’m reaching out in support of my friend State Senator Andrew Gounardes, who is running for re-election in Brooklyn’s newly-drawn District 26.
His primary is coming up in just a few days on August 23rd — and he needs your support now more than ever.
Andrew and I have knocked a lot of doors in together, and I’m thrilled that redistricting has given me the ability to vote for him as my State Senator here in Park Slope.
In the four years that Andrew has fought for Brooklyn up in Albany, he has fought hard for safer streets, reproductive rights, increasing funding for our public schools, and more.
And he’s won.
He turned New York City’s school zone speed cameras on 24/7 for the first time ever; he helped pass the Reproductive Health Act, codifying the right to abortion in New York, and he held Albany accountable to finally repay the decades-long debt it held to New York City’s public schools.
We need to keep him fighting for us in the State Senate – but he’ll need our help to win, because he’s running in a new district and facing a competitive primary. Can I count on you to join me on Team Gounardes, and talk to your neighbors about Andrew?
Join me in signing up for a volunteer shift to help keep Andrew fighting for us in Albany:
I’ll be honest with you: I saved the best news for last.
If you live in Bay Ridge, Dyker Heights, Sunset Park, Red Hook, Park Slope, Gowanus, Carroll Gardens, Boerum Hill, Downtown Brooklyn, Fort Greene, Brooklyn Heights, or DUMBO, you get an incredible opportunity on 8/23: to vote for Andrew as your State Senator.
It’s what I’ll be doing, what Congresswoman Nydia Velazaquez will be doing, what Councilmember Lincoln Restler will be doing — and I hope you’ll join us in voting for Andrew on Tuesday, August 23rd, too.
Thanks for reading, and thank you for your support.
All my best,
Brad
