Time to kick off the week! Here's what you need to know:
Why I voted NO on the Inflation "Reduction" Act
Last week, Speaker Pelosi brought Congress back into session on Friday to vote on the so-called Inflation Reduction Act.
This legislation is a budget reconciliation bill that contains $745 billion in new spending, increases taxes by $599 billion, extends Obamacare subsidies, and gives away over $350 billion on "Green New Deal" initiatives.
According to the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office and the University of Pennsylvania-Wharton Budget Model, the bill will do little to curb inflation and may worsen it. Additionally, the Tax Foundation shows this legislation bill could actually cut as many as 30,000 jobs in the midst of a sputtering economy.
In the face of record inflation and economic uncertainty, raising taxes and pushing new spending is the last thing we should do. We know reckless spending and overregulation led us to the painful point we are currently at, yet Democrats jammed this bill through, showering their special interests with taxpayer dollars, said Congressman Fitzgerald.
Additionally, I cannot support funding for the IRS to hire 87,000 new agents who will target middle-class and low-income Americans with audits.
Interview on Newsmax: The Record With Greta Van Susteren
I joined Wisconsin's own Greta Van Susteren on Newsmax to discuss why I voted against the so-called "Inflation Reduction Act" as well as the unprecedented raid on President Trump.

Military Academy Nomination Applications
Are you or is someone you know interested in attending a military academy to serve their country while furthering their education?
Each year, as a Member of Congress, I may nominate up to ten individuals for each vacant academy slot allotted to our district. And to select the most qualified nominees for each vacancy, I have appointed a Service Academy Nomination Board, which consists of residents from the Fifth District, to interview and nominate students for appointments to the various Service Academies.
My office is still accepting applications for prospective nominees for 2023 enrollment until October 7th, 2022. Please visit my website here for more information.
That’s a wrap for this week’s eNewsletter! Follow me on Twitter and Facebook to stay up to date on my work for the 5th District of Wisconsin.
Sincerely,
Scott Fitzgerald
Member of Congress
