Former Fed Chair Paul Volker, who played critical role in ensuring restitution from Swiss banks, passes away at 92
Mr. Volker served as Chairman of the Federal Reserve System from 1979 to 1987 under presidents Jimmy Carter and Ronald Regan. He would later serve as the head of the Independent Committee of Eminent Persons, also known as the Volker Commission, which played a critical role in mediating the restitution process for assets contained within the dormant Swiss bank accounts of Jewish Holocaust victims since the end of the Second World War. NYPD creates special unit for far-right and neo-Nazi threats
New York Police Department (NYPD) officials announced Wednesday the creation of a special unit to combat anti-Semitism and far-right ideologies, which federal officials have cited as a growing threat. At a press conference, Mayor Bill de Blasio warned of a "crisis of anti-Semitism gripping this nation" as well as New York in particular following this week's deadly shooting in Jersey City, N.J., which investigators believe was motivated by antisemitism. Belgian Holocaust museum cancels event honoring activist calling for Israel sanctions
Belgium’s main Holocaust museum canceled its plan to host an award ceremony for a promoter of sanctions against Israel who said Israel’s supporters “vastly inflate” anti-Semitism. In 2016, Herremans was banned from entering Israel. Read more,..

Attack in Jersey City kosher supermarket claims the lives of four

A shooting at a kosher supermarket in Jersey City claimed the lives of three innocent civilians and one police officer. The World Jewish Congress is deeply saddened by this horrendous attack and extends our heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of Detective Joe Seals and other victims of the attack.
