I am very excited to to announce that we are launching a new branch of Conservatives Concerned About the Death Penalty in Oklahoma!

Many of us remember those fateful hours last November when Julius Jones' life was on the line despite the credible evidence of his innocence. We were all relieved that Governor Stitt made the right choice and commuted his sentence.

With growing concern about the possibility of executing an innocent person, not to mention the overwhelming cost of the death penalty system, people of conscience have been speaking out. Now, with the launch of this new Conservatives Concerned branch, many of those people, including lawmakers, faith leaders, and business leaders, will have a home for their advocacy

This new branch is taking shape at a most dire time, as an Oklahoma court has scheduled 25 executions over the next two years. We cannot just stand by as this horrific turn of events unfolds. Whether you are in Oklahoma or not, we all have an opportunity to act.

First, please join our partners at the EJUSA Evangelical Network and the Catholic Mobilizing Network on Thursday, August 18 at noon ET for a webinar, "Ending Oklahoma's Death Penalty: How Catholics and Evangelicals Can Get Involved" [ [link removed] ].

Then, Oklahomans ready to oppose executions and end the death penalty are invited to an afternoon of inspiration and action planning [ [link removed] ] on Saturday, August 20 from 12:30pm to 4pm CT in Oklahoma City.
