This week, President Joe Biden is expected to approve Congress’ final budget reconciliation package, the Inflation Reduction Act, which does not include one cent for early learning and care programs. This outcome is yet another senseless decision in our nation’s history that leaves countless young children without access to critical programs that can help ensure a brighter future.
While child care was ultimately excluded from the final package, the collective efforts of Start Early and our partners at the First Five Years Fund and the Educare Network brought child care to the forefront of national conversation. We’ve laid the ground work to solidify early learning and care as an irrefutable, bipartisan priority that can no longer be overlooked.
Start Early, the First Five Years Fund and the Educare Network are and will continue to be constant and persistent champions for our youngest learners.
Read Start Early’s full statement on this disheartening news, which includes remarks from Start Early President Diana Rauner and Educare Network Executive Director Cynthia Jackson and outlines our next steps. |
