Dear John, The November election is right around the corner. On June 18th, we brought close to 400 comrades from around the country to rally in the nation’s capital with the Poor People’s Campaign, demanding Congress legislate on behalf of working-class people. Now is the time to take this fight to the polls. Will you join the struggle and pledge to participate in the battle to defeat the extreme right and fascists in the GOP? Can you sign and get others in your club, family, friends and coworkers to sign? There’s no getting around it. To win urgent demands for voting rights, for union rights, for the right to healthcare—including abortion rights, green jobs and other (small-d) democratic demands, those working on behalf of the most reactionary, anti-democratic sections of big monopoly capital must be pushed back. It always takes a fight to win. Despite what the big business media would have us believe, a right wing victory is not inevitable. A mobilized vote, like the one in Kansas, helps push the ball forward. That is why labor unions and community organizations across the country are knocking on doors, registering people to vote, and having conversations about the issues affecting our working class and people. So let’s get into the mix and add our Communist plus. One idea we have is to set up picket lines in front of the offices of corporations funding members of Congress who supported the coup. We can also strengthen our coalition ties by joining a Get Out the Vote (GOTV) shift with labor and other progressive groups! Or, work with others to organize one! Bring your friends, family and neighbors into the struggle! Set up a table with CPUSA literature and voter registration cards! Elections are not a single issue fight; they touch on every issue we organize around year-round in our respective areas, and they help set the stage for victory or defeat in the battles ahead. We have three months left to set the stage for advances over the next two years of struggle. It's time to mobilize the #VoteAgainstFascism and bring its working class content into the forefront!
