When it comes to climate change, John, we cannot afford to not act. And though it’s an existential threat against all of us, it’s our underserved communities who will be forced to carry the greatest burden.
That’s why I’m so proud to announce a new agreement to purchase 100% clean, renewable energy for the city of Chicago by 2025.
This will make Chicago one of the largest cities to commit to clean energy, it will reduce our carbon footprint by over 290,000 metric tons per year, and it will provide hundreds of good-paying jobs while helping uplift communities across Chicago.
I’m going to keep securing big wins like this, so we can keep making a more just, equitable, sustainable Chicago.
