One week to go. Early voting started two days ago. This is the time to get actively involved. Our Republican candidates need you. By now you know the candidates that you are standing behind. So please help them. Contact their individual campaigns and see how you can get involved. They will need volunteers to wave signs during early voting and on election day. You can also get involved with getting out the vote to ensure that every registered Republican casts their ballot in these all-important races by following up on those who have not yet voted. You can help in this endeavor by contacting Dee Lavandera at: [email protected] or 772-532-8999. ALL HANDS, ON DECK! Jay It is with great sadness that we publish the fact that REC member, Rayma Murray has passed away at the age of 89. She was in Alabama with family for her great, great granddaughter’s Christening at the time of her death. Rayma was a regular Republican HQ volunteer and the greeter for new REC members at their Membership Committee interview. She dedicated herself to the Republican Party and its platform. She was always willing to volunteer and to help in anyway. The picture below from Memorial Day 2019 says it all about Rayma. ALL who knew Rayma will MISS her greatly. Rest in peace, Rayma. Message from Governor Ron DeSantis on the FBI Raid at Mar-a-Lago: "The raid of Mar-a-Lago is another escalation in the weaponization of federal agencies against the Regime’s political opponents, while people like Hunter Biden get treated with kid gloves. Now the Regime is getting another 87k IRS agents to wield against its adversaries? Banana Republic." 2022 ELECTION IS VERY IMPORTANT Here are the dates: Vote By Mail underway Early Voting is August 13 - 20th (There is no voting on the 21st or 22nd as Election Day voting is set up) Election Day is Tuesday, August 23rd GO ULTRA MAGA Republican Headquarters: 865 20th Place Vero Beach, FL 32960 Phone: 772-492-8394 Open Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM DeSantis Signs Available Free DeSantis re-election lawn signs are now available at Republican Headquarters at 865 20th Place, Vero Beach on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM. THE REPUBLICAN PARTY OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY HAS ENDORSED THE FOLLOWING CANDIDATES FOR SCHOOL BOARD VOTE AUGUST 23RD! DISTRICT 2 RE- ELECT INCUMBENT JACQUELINE "JACKIE" ROSARIO The common-sense conservative voice for school board. Endorsed by Governor Ron DeSantis DISTRICT 4 ELECT THOMAS KENNY Supports parents' rights and the school board serving all citizens. Paid for by the REC of Indian River County. Not authorized by any candidate or candidate committee. Florida is setting an unapologetic pro-freedom, pro-parental rights, child-focused example in education for other states to follow. School Safety a Priority in Indian River County Indian River County Sheriff Eric Flowers says that the school resource deputy in each school keeps an AR-15 assault rifle in their office in a safe, so they can get their hands on it quickly during the school day. "If something were to happen during that time frame, they would have ready access to that AR-15 and their shield to be able to respond immediately," Sheriff Flowers said. "Our folks are there to protect the kids. Our folks are bringing guns, they're the good guys. When bad guys show up with guns, they're gonna find our guns. They're gonna find out that we're well prepared and that we're prepared for that threat. Us bringing guns to campuses only keeps the schools safer. We've seen what's happened in Parkland. We've seen what happened in Uvalde. Our folks are not gonna stand by and wait for something bad to happen to kids in Indian River County," Sheriff Flowers said. He says school resource deputies are instructed if they're in their office at the school and there's a threat, to get the assault rifle out of the safe and go straight to the threat. "Our school resource deputies bring the rifle in a rifle case in the mornings. They take the rifle out with them in the evenings. It does not stay in the school. It's only there while they're there on campus," Sheriff Flowers explained. Sheriff Flowers says since the safes were installed in the schools, they have not had an actual incident so far where they had to pull out an assault rifle and use it to try to stop someone who was threatening students at any of the schools. The Indian River County School District issued this statement: "In addition to the safety measures our local law enforcement agencies have placed on our campuses to ensure the safety and security of each student, teacher, and staff member on campus, we are blessed to have highly trained law enforcement officers assigned to each campus. One Student Resource Officer/Deputy is at each of our 13 elementary schools and 4 middle schools, and 3 SRO/SRD’s are at each of our traditional public high schools. The SDIRC has also hired 26 total non-LEA security monitors for all our middle and high schools and each visitor on campus must use the Raptor 6 visitor management system which screens and tracks everyone coming into our schools and keeps unwanted entrants out. We proudly partner with our local LEA’s to enforce any necessary measure to protect our students and staff members." Madison County, North Carolina made headlines when the sheriff there announced that he would put a safe in each school with an AR-15 assault weapon and extra ammunition in the safe. Indian River County schools are already doing that. “A government big enough to give you everything you want, is big enough to take away everything you have.” ~Thomas Jefferson~ New Specialty License Plate Available in Florida “The free state of Florida has a new license plate for pre-order that benefits the Florida Veterans Foundation and sends a clear message to out-of-state cars, ‘Don’t Tread on Me’ or Florida,” DeSantis tweeted. The “Don’t Tread on Me” license plate is already offered on specialty license plates in 11 states. They are Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Arizona, Montana, Missouri, Tennessee, Alabama, South Carolina, Maryland and Virginia. RPOF CHAIRMAN JOE GRUTER'S MESSAGE Governor DeSantis Announces New Opioid Recovery Program Governor DeSantis announced the expansion of a new, piloted substance abuse and recovery network to battle the opioid epidemic. The Coordinated Opioid Recovery (CORE) program is the first of its kind in the nation, coordinated through the state’s Department of Health, Department of Children and Families, and the Agency for Health Care Administration. Governor DeSantis also announced the appointment of Dr. Courtney Phillips as the first Statewide Director of Opioid Recovery. “Biden’s border crisis has caused a massive infusion of drugs coming into our state,” Governor DeSantis said. “This year we increased the penalties for individuals trafficking drugs in our state, and now we are giving Floridians the tools they need to break the substance abuse cycle.” Read more: [link removed] Florida’s Fight Against Woke Corporations PayPal is part of the growing woke corporate structure that Florida is fighting against under Governor DeSantis’ leadership, and they struck again last week, this time against Florida-based Moms for Liberty. Governor DeSantis tweeted out: “Last week Tina Descovich, Co-Founder of Moms for Liberty, shared that PayPal locked their account and withheld funds with no warning or justification. Days after our event, their funds were released. Florida has put WOKE banking on notice.” The most recent steps taken by the Governor were a series of protections for Floridians from the environmental, social and corporate governance (ESG) movement that threatens the vitality of the American economy and Americans’ economic freedom by targeting disfavored individuals and industries to advance a woke ideological agenda. Previously, Governor DeSantis signed HB 7 into law giving businesses, employees, children and families more tools to stand up to against discrimination and woke indoctrination. The law: Aims to prevent discriminatory instruction in the workplace and in public schools. Defines individual freedoms based on the fundamental truth that all individuals are equal before the law and have inalienable rights. Is the first of its kind in the nation to take on both corporate wokeness and critical race theory in schools in one act. GOVERNOR RON DESANTIS This November let's show the world that freedom is here to stay! Watch New Ad: Click Here to Watch New Ad Governor DeSantis Encourages Veterans to Apply for Temporary Teaching Certificates Governor Ron DeSantis announced the launch of a new webpage to help recruit qualified military veterans to join schools across the state. On August 17th, the State Board of Education will consider a rule to formally implement a program for veterans to receive a five-year temporary education certificate while they finish their bachelor’s degree, provided they meet certain criteria. This rule implements SB 896, which Governor DeSantis signed earlier this year after it received unanimous bipartisan support throughout the 2022 Session. To learn more about this program, visit www.fldoe.org/veterans. To watch a video of Governor DeSantis discussing the program, click here. “Florida is the most veteran- and military-friendly state in the nation,” said Governor Ron DeSantis. “We also know that our veterans have talents and skills that they can offer our students. This new opportunity expands Florida’s existing programs that help our veterans take their talents to our schools, and it will help Florida remain a national leader in education.” “With the skills and experience that our 1.7 million veterans bring to Florida’s workforce, this new pathway to teaching will positively impact Florida’s students,” said Commissioner of Education Manny Diaz, Jr. “Veterans and servicemembers can now work toward their full professional certificate while imparting their unique knowledge and valuable experience in the classroom.” Military Veterans Certification Pathway The State Board of Education will consider a rule to allow military veterans to obtain a 5-year temporary teaching certificate without a bachelor’s degree, providing the following criteria are met: Minimum of 48 months of military service with an honorable/medical discharge. Minimum of 60 college credits with a 2.5 grade point average. Passing score on a Florida subject area examination. Employment in a Florida school district, including charter schools. Cleared background screening. Per SB 896 (2022), which unanimously passed the Florida House and Senate, veterans who successfully obtain their 5-year temporary teaching certificate will be assigned a mentor teacher for a minimum of two years to support their classroom teaching endeavors. They must also earn their bachelor’s degree during the 5-year period to be eligible for a full professional certificate. Veterans utilizing this temporary certificate may not teach subject areas that require a master’s degree. The temporary certificate cannot be renewed once it expires, nor does it apply to military spouses or families. For more information about the Florida Department of Education, visit www.fldoe.org. The AG released Back to School: Digital Dangers—a free resource full of information about threats children may encounter online before, during or after school. "As parents, we strive to set our children up for success. That means making sure they have the supplies they need to succeed in the classroom, and support at home. But a lot has changed since we were in school." Back to School: Digital Dangers is designed to help parents talk to their children about these challenges. Through this resource you can learn more about: Fentanyl and its growing presence in the nation’s illicit drug supply. Human traffickers lurking on social media to prey on children. By keeping communication lines open with your child, you can equip them for success this school year and help us build a Stronger, Safer Florida. CONGRESSMAN BILL POSEY Congressman Posey's Statement on the FBI's Raid on President Trump's Residence “The left and their woke allies in Washington have been obsessed with their phony narratives and disproven conspiracy theories about Donald Trump for the last seven years. He is the most investigated president in history and nothing criminal has turned up. Yet, the same Department of Justice and FBI weaponized against President Trump has turned a blind eye to decades of the Biden Family’s corrupt business practices and influence peddling in the Ukraine, China, Russia and elsewhere. The Washington swamp has been consumed with this obsession of getting Donald Trump at all costs— and it’s undemocratic. The Biden Justice Department’s raid on the former President’s residence is unprecedented and takes a page from third world dictators who jail dissidents and quash dissent. Instead, this Administration should be focused on fixing the economy, lowering prices, building American energy independence, securing our borders, protecting our communities from rampant crime, and countering China.” Congressman Posey's Statement Regarding His Opposition to the So-Called "Inflation Reduction Act" "Washington should pursue policies that tackle rising energy and food prices, fix our broken supply chain, create jobs, spur investment in American businesses and secure our border. This legislation moves our nation in the opposite direction, spending hundreds of billions of dollars, on top of the trillions of reckless spending Congress has already authorized, to further a radical agenda which is bankrupting our families and destroying economic opportunity across country. "The nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office (CBO) says the bill does little to reduce inflation. Congressional leaders removed the tax provisions targeting wealthy wall street traders, while flooding the IRS with the cash to hire 87,000-armed enforcement agents and greenlighting other tax increases that will harm lower-and middle-income families and small businesses. Washington always protects their friends and squeezes the average American. "Finally, the legislation’s goal of decarbonizing by 40 percent over the next seven years will result in higher energy bills, more supply chain disruptions, less opportunity for our families and children while making us more dependent on foreign energy and subject to disruptions." SENATOR MARCO RUBIO Senator Rubio Compares Mar-a-Lago Raid to Latin American Dictatorships, Predicts Feds Will Come for Trump Supporters “I’m here in a very unique position here in South Florida, surrounded by people who come from countries where this is familiar to them. This is shocking to Americans,” Senator Rubio said on Sean Hannity’s program. “A group takes power and one of the first things that group does is they begin to persecute and go after their political opponents. And then when the supporters of the political opponents begin to complain about it, they begin to target them and criminalize opposition. And that’s what’s happening here now.” Senator Rubio added: “The far left believes that their cause is so worthy that anyone who is against it must be evil, must be a criminal, and must be punished and put away.” Watch Rubio on Fox News here: [link removed] Marco Rubio Fights for Veterans Senator Rubio calls it a “moral obligation” to help veterans who were exposed to toxic burn pits while serving America. Watch the video here: [link removed] Senator Rubio Condemns Biden’s China Connection Senator Rubio wrote a guest column for Fox News slamming Joe Biden’s connections to China and very favorable policies for the communist regime: "Beijing Biden" is beginning to seem an appropriate nickname. No, I am not talking about Hunter, but the "Big Guy" himself. President Joe Biden struck a tough tone on China during his first address to Congress. Puffing out his chest, Biden bragged that he told China’s Marxist dictator the United States "will defend America’s interests across the board." But 15 months later, it is increasingly clear the president’s policies are helping Beijing far more than Scranton—even as China threatens the U.S. Speaker of the House with military force. Just look at what is happening in Congress this week. With Biden’s blessing, Senate Democrats will vote to give massive tax breaks for electric batteries, solar panels, and wind turbines manufactured in China. The taxes are part of the Democrats’ so-called "Inflation Reduction Act," a 725-page boondoggle that will increase taxes by hundreds of billions of dollars in the middle of a recession they created. Therefore, we must stay unified. Never lose sight of who our political opponents are… the progressive left Democrats who are taking our country off a cliff with the active help of Big Tech and the old-line national news media.
