NO OCPAC MEETING
This Wednesday
BOB LINN
We are Parents, not
Stupid Pusillanimous Invalids
Last Thursday, twelve of us gathered at Tulsa Memorial High School to pray. The school has one lone teacher who had the integrity and the courage to alert the Oklahoma Board of Education that the Tulsa School District was in violation of Oklahoma’s educational standards.

Later today, I am scheduled to review a high school science book used in the Tulsa Public Schools.

It is a junior level (11th grade) text. I am told it is pure pablum, void of the techniques used to construct and test scientific hypothesis, establishes truth on the foundations of opinion, and delivers radical leftist political ideology as established truth. All that written on an elementary grade school level.

And, it contains more pictures than text!
To say that Oklahoma’s academic levels are in the bottom ten of the nation would be kind. The truth is that we are dead last. Reed Downey, the state chairman for School Boards 4 Kids has made this clear through the research his team has produced.
Equally alarming is that those currently in the seat of authority over this educational disaster are seeking even more authority. The state’s Superintendent of Public Instruction, Joy Hofmeister, wants to represent the Democrat party as our next Governor.

The superintendent of Shawnee Schools, April Grace, manages a school system ranked in the bottom half of Oklahoma’s schools.
April Grace wants to take Hofmeister’s place. She wants to do for all of Oklahoma what she has done in Shawnee.

Noted English writer, G. K. Chesterton observed, “The government did not have such power over us when it could send men to the stake, as it does now when it can send them to the elementary school.”
Our children suffer from more than academic incompetence, however. An unintended consequence of COVID was the open window it gave parents into the educational system of Oklahoma. We are now well aware that the materials our children are provided range from pornography to racial shaming.

The use of education by governmental authorities to wrest control of the children from their parents and ensure the loyalty of the up-and-coming generation is to the state and not the church or the family is not new.

G. K. Chesterton observed, “If children see that their teachers despise what their parents desire, there is and must be a conflict of authorities. And there is, and must be, in the modern State, a monstrous discovery; that it is the more new and unnatural authority that has the power."
~G.K. Chesterton
New Witness, Dec. 27. 1918
The 18th Century writer responsible for beginning the secularization of the West is Jean-Jacque Rousseau. He spoke of humanity in the same way any good elitist would, when, in his book The Social Contract, he likened “ordinary people” to “a stupid pusillanimous invalid.”

It is an attitude we find in our educational authorities today who react so violently at the thought of educational choice. The idea that parents should decide their children’s teachers and curriculum and not the state.

IN ONE WEEK WE DECIDE OUR FUTURE

We have one week to go before we vote for the next Superintendent of Public Education. The choice between Ryan Walters and April Grace.

Ryan Walters is an advocate for the total authority of the parent to determine in what school and for what curriculum the educational resources designated for the education of their children is spent.

His opponent, April Grace, is not. Of course, she is not! What parent would send their child to an April Grace school if there was a way out of their child being a statistic in the Shawnee Elementary School chart above.

If you'd like to distribute the information on the card below, feel free to send it via email or text. If you want printed copies, send us an email.
Oklahoma’s classrooms are shaping our future. We will not prosper if we allow governmental policy to use its economic chains to remove the family from the educational authority God has given to it to nurture the children.

TULSA MEMORIAL HIGH SCHOOL
12 PARTICIPATE IN PRAYER WALK
THURSDAY, AUGUST 11, 2022

Twelve us from Oklahoma City (OCPAC & School Boards 4 Kids) and Tulsa (City Elders) gathered for a one-hour prayer meeting in front of Tulsa Memorial School last Thursday. Reed Downey, state chairman for SB4Kids, led the meeting with robust participation from the others.

We hope for progress in seeing the transformation of the Tulsa School District by its re-charted pathways away form the Frankfurt School's vacuous theories of race, sex, and cultural development.
