Heritage Oversight Project Demands Documents About Mar-a-Lago Raid

Demanding documents: In the wake of the surprise FBI raid of former President Trump’s Florida home, Heritage’s Oversight Project immediately filed a Freedom of Information Act request for documents and communications from the Biden administration leading up to this unprecedented event.

ASAP: The Oversight Project is requesting these documents be processed on an expedited basis. This means the administration has 10 days to affirm or deny the request or be subject to litigation.

Answers: “We are filing this request because the American people deserve the answers Joe Biden and Merrick Garland will not give them,” said Oversight Project director Mike Howell in a statement.

Questions: The raid raises questions about public trust in the Department of Justice and the possibility of an indictment of Trump. The Daily Signal gathered answers to these questions and more from legal experts and historians.

The Latest Jobs, Inflation News Are Nothing to Celebrate

The News: President Biden went on vacation with a spring in his step because of a string of supposed good news, including reports on job growth and inflation.

The Truth About Jobs: While the economy added more than half a million jobs in July, we are still short of pre-pandemic level employment, notes research fellow Rachel Greszler.

The Truth About Inflation: Last month’s inflation number was “only” 8.5 percent, but this is “six times what it was when Biden took office," says research fellow EJ Antoni. "The Biden administration may think this is a political win, but it is a loss for American families.”

Coming Soon: More IRS Audits

Threat on the horizon: The wildly mislabeled “Inflation Reduction Act” passed the House over the weekend. Once signed into law, it will among other things add $80 billion to the IRS budget and swell its ranks with 87,000 new agents.

Swimming in loot: The goal is to arm the IRS with enough firepower to collect $200 billion in supposedly unpaid taxes, at a time when the federal government is flush with revenue.

Who’s in the crosshairs? The Biden administration swears that the IRS won’t target Americans making less than $400,000 with new audits. Rep. Kevin Brady, R-Texas, however, provided data showing that claim to be false.

Fighting Back Against 'Woke' Money

What: Heritage President Kevin Roberts joined Strive Asset Management’s co-founder and executive chairman, Vivek Ramaswamy, and head of corporate governance and longtime friend of Heritage, Justin Danhof, to ring the closing bell at the New York Stock Exchange to celebrate its first index fund, $DRLL.

Why: Strive aims to provide a counterweight to giant “woke” asset managers like Blackrock and Vanguard that are pressuring companies to comply with the Left’s agenda on energy and cultural issues. Its mission is to restore the voices of everyday citizens in the American economy by leading companies to focus on excellence over politics.

Where: Learn more about Strive at www.strivefunds.com. Vivek was also recently featured in the WSJ Weekend Interview. (Pictured above, l-r, Justin Danhof, Kevin Roberts, Vivek Ramaswamy.)
