John,

The stakes of this year's midterm elections are the highest they've ever been in our lifetimes. So with Election Day getting closer and closer, I wanted to send a note about our strategy to protect democracy — in addition to explaining why support from our donors will be critical to executing on our plans. (But if you already know why your support is so important, you can click here to pitch in and help us keep up our work.)

There are three major pillars to our strategy this year:

1. Elect pro-democracy candidates to key offices up and down the ballot. We're targeting races in battleground states across the country that will be critical to the future of our democracy, and so far we've endorsed 14 outstanding candidates who are committed to doing everything in their power to preserve free and fair elections.

2. Protect voting rights and expand access to the ballot. With many GOP state legislatures continuing their crackdown on voting rights, it's as important as ever to make sure every eligible voter can make their voice heard. That's why we and our affiliates are fighting legal strategies from map manipulators and election deniers, that could affect the future of fair maps, voting rights, and democracy itself.

3. Defend the integrity of our election infrastructure. This means ensuring our elections are properly and smoothly administered, and that election deniers are not successful in their efforts to corrupt the pool of election workers and infiltrate election administration from the inside. We already see movements like Stop the Steal organizing and we need to be ready to fight back.

But all of this work takes resources, John, and that's where supporters like you come in. We're counting on your help to meet our fundraising targets so we can keep up this critically important work, and right now we're coming up on a big mid-month deadline.

Donald Trump and his allies are working around the clock to undermine our nation's democratic values and even the Constitution itself — and with democracy itself on the line, we can't afford to give anything less than 110% to this fight.

So John, if you're able, please pitch in anything you can before tomorrow's mid-month deadline to help us keep working around the clock to defend our democracy. The stakes are too high to sit this one out:
