Trump is still not above the law. He can and he must be impeached.
John --
Yesterday, former special counsel Robert Mueller stood before lawmakers and gave a damning testimony against Donald Trump’s corruption, calling Trump’s relationship to Russia “criminal” and “unpatriotic”. John, if you or I lied to, cheated, harassed, or undermined our employer, we would be fired. Trump should not be an exception. He works for us, and 80% of you told us you want Trump impeached now.
You took to the streets with us on Trump’s first day because you knew what a Trump presidency would mean for the future of our country. We knew then that he was unfit, but the depths he will sink to in order to feed his greed and the greed of his elite, tax-dodging friends seem to have no limits. Our president should be setting the highest professional standards, not wallowing in the muck of one of the lowest political points in recent history.
For so long, this country has operated under exceptions and exclusions based on race, class, and gender while women and femmes have often led the charge to hold this country to its fundamental promise of freedom and equality. Civil rights leader Barbara Jordan said it best, “What the people want is very simple - they want an America as good as its promise.” Trump’s future is the opposite of that American promise, and we won’t allow him to make it a reality.
