Celebrating the Queen's Platinum Jubilee together
beacon
*The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee* in June saw a host of opportunities for the community to come together and celebrate.
As well as the new jubilee beacon being lit in Clifton Central/ Flower Park, there were events throughout the weekend showing that despite the weather people could still have a good time together with events in community centres and in Clifton and Wilford villages.

Clifton Big Spring Clean
big spring clean
*Alongside the regular litter picks that happen thanks to our dedicated volunteers and residents, there were two big partnership days of action coordinated by NG11 Clean Champions, who went out as groups with others going out on their own.*
The litter picks covered Clifton Lane (Lark Hill) to Crusader island and to Fox Covert. Crusader island to Silverdale Island and to The Harvester pub (Clifton Lane Wilford), Rivergreen greens, Greencroft, Green Lane, Sturgeon Ave/greens, Farnborough Road and Brooksby + Clifton Village, Barton Green. *We collected 56 bags of litter!*
A fantastic collaborative event with Clean Champion volunteers from NG11 Clifton East and West and other local community representatives: Rev Lydia Cartwright, Clifton East and West Councillors; Kevin Clarke, Maria Watson. Kirsty Jones and Andrew Rule. Claire McCurdy (Neighbourhood Development officer for Clifton East and West), Paul Brown Manager and the Street Cleansing team, A453 Tesco Express Manager and McDonald's staff volunteers, Lark Hill seniors and a group of Glapton School pupils.
A453 Tesco Express, McDonalds and Harvester kindly provided refreshments for the people taking part.
It was great to meet up, take a little exercise, the sun was out whilst cleaning up the local community.
*"Huge thanks to all who took part both in the days and in the planning of these events, and for making a difference to the community all year round."*
