Dear Georgian,

Last week's raid on the former President of the United States, Donald J. Trump, is an unprecedented political assault that resembles the abuses in the most corrupt of countries. I do not believe for one minute that Joe Biden did not know exactly what was happening. Congress has the responsibility to deliver facts to the American people and investigate the actions of the FBI and DOJ to hold them accountable.

Democrats pandering to progressives gave us record high fuel and food prices, and now Democrats intend to increase taxes and audits on the hard-working Americans struggling to get by.

Through their misleading Inflation "Reduction" Act, Democrats want to add 87,000 new IRS employees to harass you during a recession. In comparison, Customs and Border Protection only has around 60,000 employees and a record border crisis to handle.

According to the bipartisan Congressional Budget Office (CBO), this bill would have a negligible effect on inflation this year and would only reduce inflation by .01% at best in 2023.

This legislation only digs American families and businesses into a deeper financial hole, and I opposed this effort to raise taxes and urge the Democrats to stop this exorbitant overspending.

As 2023 approaches, the House Agriculture Committee is working toward the next Farm Bill. This legislation shapes every aspect of ag policy and it’s critical that voices in the Eighth District are heard. We need to know what’s working and what can be improved. If you are a farmer, take a moment to provide feedback here.

As always, my staff and I are here to help. If you need assistance with a federal agency or have comments or concerns to share with me, please do not hesitate to call my Warner Robins, Tifton, or Washington, D.C. offices. Visiting AWI in Macon

I visited Armstrong World Industries (AWI) in Macon to learn about their new partnership in our district with Irving Consumer Products to improve their local environmental footprints.

Irving is now sending their tissue fiber waste to AWI’s mineral fiber plant, which will keep over 3,500 tons of waste out of our landfill. Georgia is a great place to do business, and together, these companies account for more than 700 jobs in our district!

Speaking at the Georgia Chamber Congressional Luncheon

I also spoke at the bipartisan Georgia Chamber Congressional Luncheon to recognize our state's legacy of great business leaders and political leaders who have continued to push forward together for the past decades to allow Georgia to be the number one state for doing business.

It is the work that we do together that propels our state forward and gives us opportunities to grow our industries.

The only way we can move forward is together, and every minute we are not working together, we are moving Georgia backward.

In order to stay together, we cannot let partisan political agendas distract us from our shared goal of growing Georgia's economy so that our families can live and prosper in our great state for generations to come.

I am thankful for the Chamber's commitment to our state, and I look forward to our success in the future.

Just the News | Rep. Austin Scott: If Biden not told of FBI Trump raid, 'proof' he’s not in charge of White House

"Rep. Austin Scott discusses the unbelievable statement made by President Biden's Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre yesterday, saying that Biden was not briefed on the FBI raid at Trump's Mar-A-Lago residence. The Georgia Congressman states, he 'simply does not believe that President Biden was not informed of this.'"
