Big news, team.
Yesterday, the House passed HR 3, the Lower Drug Costs Now Act -- a landmark bill that gives Medicare the ability to negotiate prices with pharmaceutical companies in order to reduce the cost of prescription drugs.
Families in the Central Valley have been disproportionately impacted by the skyrocketing costs of prescription medications. Take Diabetes patients for example: 14,000 seniors on Medicare depend on insulin to treat this disease, yet saw a 1000% increase in its cost over the last 20 years. It's a public health crisis, it's shameful, and it's time for Big Pharma to stop gouging the American people. Too many lives are at stake.
If this bill becomes law, the American people would see $345 billion in savings. It'd be a huge weight off the shoulders of working families in my community. But we still have work to do to pressure McConnell to take up this legislation.
I'm fighting to make sure prescription drugs are affordable for every family that needs them, but I can't do this alone. Will you chip in $3 to help me keep up the fight to ensure all Americans have access to life-saving drugs?
