It may seem old-fashioned, but one of the most tried and true ways to reach out to Jamaal's supporters and make sure that everyone in this movement casts their ballot is through the mail.
That's why our opponent is STILL sending racist, altered flyers that artificially darken Jamaal's skin tone through the mail to folks across NY-16.
It's a proven Republican tactic to turn voters against Black leaders, and our conservative Democratic opponent is relentlessly using it to try to undermine Jamaal's leadership. And when our opponents are sending negative and racist mailers attacking Jamaal, we feel that on our doorsteps too.
We have to fight back — but because printing, addressing, and mailing flyers takes time, today's the last day we possibly can pay for more flyers. That's why I'm coming to our most dedicated supporters like you to ask: Can you chip in before our mailer fundraising deadline at midnight so we're able to send these mail pieces to everyone in NY-16 in these final days before the election?
When we organize volunteer groups to go out into the community after one of our mailers has dropped, we notice a strong positive response with community members. When people know what we stand for, we can cover more territory of NY-16 and confirm the support of voters much faster than if they don't know anything about Jamaal or our movement.
But the opposite also applies, John. Our organizing efforts feel the direct fallout of racist and negative attack ads against Jamaal. People are less willing to speak to us, the conversations are slower, and it takes even more time to cover the same territory.
This movement is totally powered by everyday folks volunteering their time or chipping in what they can, John. All our outreach by mail, on TV, online, and in person is only possible because of your support. But our opponents — who've outraised 2:1 last quarter — are sending flyers to everybody in NY-16 that distort Jamaal's character, image, and record. Folks are already early voting. We've got to get the truth out there.
