Today, more than 65 million Americans benefit from the program, but Social Security is in trouble. Despite more than half of today’s retirees being dependent on Social Security as a steady source of income, Republicans like Rick Scott plan to gut the program or even cut it altogether.

And it never stops: Most recently, Wisconsin-Republican Ron Johnson called to put Social Security and Medicare on the chopping block every year.
