The stage is officially set. In November, I’m facing Tim Michels, a Trump-endorsed, far-right extremist who wants to take away reproductive freedom, end fair elections, and even threatened to go after birth control.

And I’m not alone. Across the country, dangerous Republican candidates are running for governor, and without your help, they could win.

John, the stakes in the election couldn’t be higher. With the Supreme Court’s dangerous decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, millions of Americans are in danger of losing their fundamental rights as equal citizens. I think that’s bullshit.

That’s why I’m fighting back. Alongside Attorney General Josh Kaul, I filed a lawsuit against Wisconsin’s archaic 1849 abortion ban. My opponent wants to enforce this ban – that has no exceptions for rape or incest – and he’s previously said it's “not unreasonable” for a rape victim to be forced to give birth.

And I’m not the only Dem gov standing as the last line of defense against these far-right attacks. Gov. Gretchen Whitmer filed a lawsuit and used her executive authority to urge the Michigan Supreme Court to ensure the state’s arcane 1931 ban never goes back into effect. And in New Mexico, Nevada, and Illinois, Dem govs have signed legislation guaranteeing the right to an abortion in their states.

We’ve made progress to protect our states from these shameful Republican attacks, but this fight isn’t over. And we need backup.
