John,
When a powerful and courageous 16-year old is honored as Time Magazine’s Person of the Year – our president should be thanking and congratulating them.
But instead of honoring Greta Thunberg’s impactful climate work and achievements, Donald Trump attacked her with insults in the most belittling, dismissive, and disgusting way.
Many women, especially young women, have heard this many times before. Men dismissing us as angry and emotional – telling us we’re overreacting and to just “chill.”
We will not be silenced. We are angry and for good reason –– we’re not going to “chill out” and “watch a movie” while our planet burns. While Trump might not care about future generations, we do.
That’s why we’re rising up across the country on January 18th for the Women’s March 2020 to demand bold climate action – will you be there?

The climate crisis is one of the three main focuses of this year’s march. There’s no more time to wait, and it will take all of us rising up.
As Greta said in her speech at COP25 in Madrid on Wednesday, “every great change throughout history has come from the people. We do not have to wait. We can start the change right now. We the people.”
The current science says we have less than 8 years to radically transform the global economy away from fossil fuels – but our politicians are failing us. As Greta pointed out, “countries are finding clever ways around having to take real action. This has to stop.”
But change will only happen if we disrupt business as usual and show up on the streets where we can’t be ignored. Each person who shows up on January 18th puts fear in every elected official and lets them know that inaction is unacceptable.
Join us on January 18th in D.C. and around the world to demand that every country keep fossil fuels in the ground.
Together we can build the future we need.
