PFAW Member, We are at a pivotal moment for our democracy and we are facing unprecedented attacks on our elections. We must make sure that Congress funds election security as soon as possible, opportunities to secure the 2020 elections are being lost each day. Election security experts are warning that our voting systems are vulnerable, and Intelligence officials have said that if we don’t act now, 2016 could be just the beginning compared to what is to come in 2020. In fact, early reports seem to indicate that Russia and other countries have already begun their attempts to meddle in the 2020 elections. Too many states and localities have vulnerable election systems, including voting machines that connect to WiFi and others with no paper ballots and voter data poorly protected. Every voter should be given the choice to either mark a paper ballot by hand or with an assistive device that allows them to verify their vote on paper. Without paper ballots and strong audits to check the machine count against a sample of paper ballots, as well as other cyber safeguards, our voting system is extremely vulnerable to hacking and foul play. After receiving pressure from advocates like you, Mitch McConnell finally committed to just $250 million to the effort to secure our elections, but it has not yet passed, and that is not nearly enough. Email your senators today and urge them to secure or elections now before its too late.>> Together, we can secure funding and the accountability needed to secure our elections and protect our democracy. Thank you, - Zach, PFAW
