Dear team,

For the first time in history, the U.S. Supreme Court has taken away a
right that it had recognized as fundamental to personal liberty: the
right to abortion. Decades ago, the Court was correct when it
concluded that the 14th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution protects
individual decisions about whether and when to have a child.

Contrary to the Court's recent decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, the
right to reproductive autonomy is deeply grounded in the U.S.
Constitution. By overturning Roe, the Supreme Court abandoned 50 years
of precedent. The path forward requires a rebuilding of legal theory
to align with the promise of the 14th Amendment.

A new report from the Center for Reproductive Rights, "The
Constitutional Right to Reproductive Autonomy: Realizing the Promise
of the 14th Amendment", presents the Center's positive vision for
reclaiming and rebuilding the 14th amendment guarantees that ensure a
human right to reproductive autonomy. This report will serve as a
resource for lawyers, advocates, lawmakers, and others interested in
constitutional law and committed to building stronger protections for
reproductive rights in the United States.

The report illuminates:

* How reproductive oppression is used to control women, people of
color, and people working to make ends meet.

* Why reproductive autonomy matters to health, life, and economic
and family wellbeing.

* Judicial opinions and scholarship about reproductive autonomy
and other rights that can inform future rulings.

* The ways in which international human rights law protects
reproductive autonomy.

* Constitutional rights to liberty, equal protection, and life and
how these can strengthen protections for reproductive autonomy
going forward.

Reports like these are critical grounding for our work and are what
set the Center apart as an organization dedicated to long-term legal
theory development and thought leadership that is crucial to the fight
for reproductive rights. We are determined and ready to build back
stronger and more comprehensive legal protections for reproductive
rights for the long term. This is how we do just that.

This kind of work would not be possible without your ongoing support
and partnership. Thank you for being with us.

In solidarity,

Center for Reproductive Rights
