Team,
As a combat veteran, I carried an assault rifle daily. I know from firsthand experience that these are weapons of war — and they have absolutely no place on our streets or in our classrooms.
Gun violence in the U.S. is rampant and rising, and so is fear and lack of safety in public spaces. No one should fear for their lives in spaces like classrooms, malls, or grocery stores.
We cannot call this a free country when children fear for their safety just by going to school. Preventing gun violence is about protecting our freedoms, and Congress needs to take action.
I'm running in this special election because we need to pass swift, meaningful gun safety legislation. Meanwhile, my opponent in this race has an A-rating from the NRA.

During the first eight months of 2022, we have seen 411 mass shootings in this country. This is unacceptable. And it is outrageous that there has only been ONE major gun safety bill signed over the last 30 years.
Protecting our freedoms and safety is what I’ve dedicated my career in public service to, and in Congress, passing gun safety legislation to get weapons of war off the streets will be a top priority. It’s time for Congress to act, instead of cowering behind the gun lobby.
We need to be invested in policies for gun violence prevention — and I will be a leader to make sure we can make that happen. I'll fight all the way with you.
We can and will fight to end gun violence. Sign onto our pledge to show your support for meaningful gun safety legislation.
