Next week, the full House of Representatives will likely vote to determine whether Trump will be the third President in U.S. history to be impeached.

Friend,

BREAKING: The House Judiciary Committee just voted to approve two articles of impeachment against Trump: for abusing his power by coercing Ukraine to do his political dirty work, and then for covering it up by obstructing Congress during our impeachment investigation.

Next week, the full House of Representatives will likely vote to determine whether Trump will be the third President in U.S. history to be impeached.

This is huge. Although the date of next week’s vote isn’t yet confirmed, more than 100,000 people across the country have already signed up to rally the night before the floor vote—to show that the American people support impeaching this dangerous, corrupt, racist President.

Where will you be on the eve of this historic impeachment vote?

  • What: 450+ family-friendly "Nobody Is Above the Law" rallies

  • When: The night before the House of Representatives takes its historic vote to impeach Trump, likely next week

After a marathon hearing and debate yesterday, the House Judiciary Committee decided to postpone the vote until this morning, so this historic moment could happen in the light of day.

I want to pause and say thank you.

I’m proud that together we have led on this issue—first during our campaign and now in the halls of Congress. Together, we’ve worked with pro-impeachment activists from the get-go because we have seen the lawlessness of this president since even before he was elected. Together, we made this happen.

Like most progressive changes in this country, we’ve come so far because of a grassroots movement by and for the American people. Many members of that movement are concerned that the articles of impeachment are focused too narrowly on Ukraine.

Trump’s Ukraine-related offenses are really just the tip of the iceberg: Over and over again, he has undermined our democracy for his own personal and political gain.

The articles of impeachment also don’t cover Trump’s racist abuses of power or his many direct violations of our Constitution. For example, just yesterday Trump once again openly violated the Constitution’s Emoluments Clause, as part of a record-setting Twitter rampage, where he tweeted more than he ever has in a single day since taking office. Promoting his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida, from which he still profits, Trump called it the “Southern White House.”

We have to set a precedent that this blatant disregard for our Constitution is unacceptable. So while we’ve come so far, these articles don’t go far enough.

However, we can make sure that they will be enough to impeach and remove Trump.

And it’s urgent that we do so. As Rep. Jerry Nadler noted this week: “We cannot wait for the election to address the present crisis. The integrity of that election is one of the very things at stake.”

The world is watching, as history is in the making. We need to make sure as many U.S. Representatives as possible vote YES on one or both articles of impeachment.

Not everyone will vote based on their conscience or their oath of office to protect the Constitution. Many will vote based on what their constituents are saying. And Senators will be paying attention, too, since they will take the reins after our impeachment vote. That’s why it’s so important to demonstrate that the public is demanding impeachment.

In solidarity,

Rashida
