Dear NRDC Action Fund Activist,

We've just witnessed history. Yesterday, the U.S. House of Representatives
passed the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022, which contains the largest
federal investment in climate action — ever. This landmark legislation
will help to cut climate-busting pollution by up to 40 percent by 2030,
which will go a long way toward averting the worst impacts of the climate
crisis.

The bill now heads to President Biden's desk, who could sign it into law
as soon as next week.

This is a major victory for our climate, communities, and NRDC Action Fund
supporters like you, who together sent hundreds of thousands of messages
to your senators and representatives urging them to vote to pass bold
climate legislation. Your voices were heard — and heeded.

This bill will grow solar, wind, and other clean energy innovation, get
more electric vehicles on the roads, clean up dirty power plants, and
more. It'll also lower utility bills, create thousands of clean energy
jobs, and expand climate justice programs for communities and families
across the country.

It also unfortunately includes some giveaways to the fossil fuel industry
that will perpetuate inequities that inflict disproportionate hazard and
harm on low-income communities and people of color. Our work to achieve
climate justice is far from over.

Still, it is a huge step forward in our fight for a 100% clean energy
future, and it was only possible because of people like you.

Now there is more work to do to capture the full potential a clean energy
economy has to offer, and build a safer, healthier, more just future for
all.

In the weeks ahead, we'll be counting on your help to keep up the pressure
on Washington to follow through on the promises put forth in this
legislation ... push for strong state and local climate action ... and
continue working to break our nationwide dependence on fossil fuels,
including calling on the Biden administration to end new offshore drilling
leasing.

The passage of this bill shows that elections matter. With razor-thin
margins in Congress, our future depends on electing climate champions who
will stand up to Big Oil — and we need every single one we can get. With
the midterm elections just around the corner, we need your help more than
ever to elect and re-elect leaders who will fight for us, not do the
bidding of fossil fuel lobbyists.

[ [link removed] ]Sign up for All In for Climate Action to fight the climate crisis and
help elect environmental champions in November's midterm elections.
Together, we'll fight to hold the line in Congress and defeat the
anti-environment legislators who could pave the way for a conservative
agenda that dismantles our rights and our future.

We'll continue to keep you updated on the best ways to stay involved in
our work to push for climate action and elect environmental champions.
Thank you for continuing to stand with us.

Sincerely,

Kevin S. Curtis
Executive Director, NRDC Action Fund
