Hi John,

Some folks in Washington want to distill every election into a simply partisan choice, but I know that’s not how most Americans – and certainly not how most Mainers – approach politics.

I want to be clear: In this election, I’m not asking for your support because of the party I belong to. I’m asking for your support because of the work I’ve done for my district since coming to Congress, and because of all the important work there’s still left to do.

I’m asking for your support because access to abortion care, campaign finance reform, affordable health care, support for our seniors, the creation of good jobs, respect for our veterans, and responsible stewardship of the environment are all on the ballot this year.

Since coming to Congress, I’ve worked across the aisle to get results for my constituents on these and other important issues. And even though we may not always agree, my commitment to serving this community in Congress is absolute.

But John, deeply partisan groups are wading into this race to bolster my opponent. If they have their way, I’ll be replaced by more of the same partisanship that we’ve all grown so sick of in Washington.

I need your help to keep fighting back against those forces here in ME-02. Together, I know we can win this race in November – but it won’t come cheap. So while I hate to ask, we need your help to keep our fundraising on track.
