Governor DeSantis Appoints Judge Renatha
Francis
Governor
DeSantis announced the appointment of Judge Renatha Francis to the
Florida Supreme Court. Francis’ appointment fills the vacancy of
former Florida Supreme Court Justice Al Lawson, who announced his
retirement earlier this year. Francis will officially take her seat on
the Supreme Court on Sept. 1, 2022.
“Judge
Renatha Francis has an incredible life story that epitomizes the
American Dream and proves that those who come to our country have the
opportunity to pursue their dreams and, through hard work and the
application of their God-given talents, reach the highest heights of
whatever field they choose,” Governor DeSantis said.
Before
immigrating from the Caribbean to Florida, Renatha Francis was a small
business owner in Jamaica, where she ran two successful enterprises
while being the primary caregiver for her sibling. She pursued a legal
career later in life than most attorneys, but she advanced rapidly
based on her merit to serve as a judge first in Miami-Dade County, and
then on the 15th Circuit Court.

FLORIDA
Governor Awards TCC
$1.6 Million for Workforce Education
Governor
DeSantis awarded $1.6 million to Tallahassee Community College (TCC)
to expand workforce education opportunities in the healthcare
industry, including its surgical technology, dental hygiene, and
dental assisting programs by purchasing new equipment to enroll and
train students entering these programs.
The
programs will address regional healthcare occupational needs not only
in Leon County, but also in one of Florida’s Rural Areas of
Opportunity, building and supporting a student pipeline at the TCC
Gadsden campus.
“My
administration will continue to invest in workforce development and
equip Floridians with the skills necessary to thrive in the workforce
and support their families,” Governor DeSantis said.

Governor DeSantis
Invites Veterans to Become Florida Teachers
With more
than 1.7 million military veterans, Governor Ron DeSantis is
encouraging veterans to apply for a temporary teaching certificate
through a new program to help recruit qualified military veterans to
join schools across the state. The Military Veterans Certification
Pathway program is made possible through unanimous bipartisan support
of legislation passed during the 2022 legislative session and signed
by Governor DeSantis. The State Board of Education will consider a
rule formally implementing the program at their August 17th
meeting.
“Florida is
the most veteran- and military-friendly state in the nation,” said
Governor Ron DeSantis. “We also know that our veterans have talents
and skills that they can offer our students. This new opportunity
expands Florida’s existing programs that help our veterans take their
talents to our schools, and it will help Florida remain a national
leader in education.”
The
proposed rule will allow military veterans to obtain a 5-year
temporary teaching certificate without a bachelor’s degree, provided
the following criteria are met:
- Minimum of
48 months of military service with an honorable/medical
discharge;
- Minimum of
60 college credits with a 2.5 grade point average;
- Passing
score on a Florida subject area examination;
- Employment
in a Florida school district, including charter schools;
and
- Cleared
background screening.
Additionally, veterans who successfully obtain their
5-year teaching certificate:
- Will be
assigned a mentor teacher for a minimum of two years to support their
classroom endeavors;
- Must also
earn their bachelor’s degree during the 5-year period to be eligible
for a full professional certificate;
- May not
teach subject areas that require a master’s degree; and
- Cannot
renew the 5-year temporary teaching certificate once it
expires.
The
Military Veterans’ Certificate Pathway program does not apply to
military spouses or families.

Senator Rubio
Compares Mar-a-Lago Raid to Latin American Dictatorships, Predicts
Feds Will Come For Trump Supporters
“I’m here
in a very unique position here in South Florida, surrounded by people
who come from countries where this is familiar to them. This is
shocking to Americans,” Senator Rubio said on Sean Hannity’s program.
“A group takes power and one of the first things that group does is
they begin to persecute and go after their political opponents. And
then when the supporters of the political opponents begin to complain
about it, they begin to target them and criminalize opposition. And
that’s what’s happening here now.”
Senator
Rubio added: “The far left believes that their cause is so worthy that
anyone who is against it must be evil, must be a criminal, and must be
punished and put away.”

Attorney
General Moody Slams Mar-a-Lago Raid on Multiple Fox Network
Programs
On Tuesday
morning, Attorney General Moody was on Fox Business and raised
numerous red flags over the FBI’s raid on Mar-a-Lago.
“What is
uncommon, and I can tell you this as a former federal prosecutor, is a
raid by dozens of FBI agents over what we hear presumably is a
document dispute,” Attorney General Moody said. “I can tell you that
is not common in these types of investigations. And I’m urging, for
the sake of the independence and integrity of our law enforcement
institutions, that Merrick Garland and Christopher Wray come out very
soon and start being transparent with Americans.”

On Fox News
with Brett Baier, Attorney General Moody compared the raid to that of
dictatorships.
“Many of
the people in south Florida fled totalitarian regimes from Cuba or
Venezuela, and when you see a government that comes in and has
targeted we know previously parents who were labeled domestic
terrorists, when you have a government that just announced increasing
their agents for the IRS by 87,000 agents to target American
citizens,” she said. “And now you have an unprecedented raid on your
former president and potential political opponent and there's this
idea that you could start going after criminally political opponents.
I mean that is the motto of any type of those regimes. Suppress
political opposition.”

CFO Patronis
Dismantles the “Inflation Reduction Act” on
Twitter
CFO Jimmy
Patronis Tweet-thread on the so-called Inflation Reduction
Act:
With the so-called “Inflation Reduction Act”
expected to pass this week, Floridians should be aware of a couple of
things. First, whenever Congress names a bill, that bill will do the
opposite of what it says it will do. Think: the "Affordable Health
Care Act."
So of course, the “Inflation Reduction Act”
adds to the inflation crisis. It’s more government cash, piled on top
of the other trillions in government cash, that caused inflation.
That’s why everything is more expensive than it needs to be and why
Americans have less money.
Second, this bill spends $80 billion for the
IRS, including adding 87,000 new agents, which is terrifying.
Corporations have plenty of auditors, armies of lawyers, and CPAs who
work at navigating our nation's outrageously complex tax code. Small
businesses don’t. These agents will target the middle class and small
businesses. The Left needs the cash to fund their programs. This bill
is about handouts to big business. They take money from small
businesses and send it to ESG businesses who raise cash through
liberal asset managers.
What’s most concerning is we’ve seen how the
Biden administration has weaponized the DOJ. They just raided
Mar-a-Lago. The IRS is just another wing of his army to squash the
Conservative movement. Let’s not forget about how Obama’s IRS went
after Tea Party groups. Fortunately, in a couple of months Republicans
will have the House, and God willing, the Senate. No ifs, ands or
buts, this new IRS funding must be rolled back! We must protect our
small businesses. Biden is obsessed with Governor Ron DeSantis and the
IRS will target Florida!
In all my years of public service not once
has anyone ever told me they care about expanding IRS authority. This
is an example of a government that is not only disinterested in their
constituents, but downright hateful.
